Rita Ann Higgins

Rita Ann Higgins began her writing career in 1982, since when she has published both poetry and plays. Her volumes of poetry, all published by Salmon Press, include Goddess on the Mervue Bus (1986), Witch in the Bushes (1988), Goddess and Witch (1989), Philomena's Revenge (1992) and Higher Purchase (1996). Her poetry has been anthologised and dramatised, and she has also written plays such as Face Licker Come Home and God-of-the-Hatchet-Man, which was produced by Punchbag. Her work has won several awards, and she is a member of Aosdána.
